LED car headlamp alignment

Placing and securing of LEDs.

  • Task: Development of an alignment station, which places LEDs on a heat sink and bonds them together.
  • Solution: The heat sinks are placed manually on a rotary table, which then transports the heat sinks fully automatically into the machine. The robot removes an LED from the tray and moves to the plasma cleaning section. The underside of the LED is then cleaned to ensure the adhesive bonds to the surface more effectively. Subsequently, UV-adhesive is applied, whereupon the LED is placed on the heat sink and precisely aligned. After alignment, the LED is firmly connected to the heat sink using two-component adhesive.
  • Result: The LED car headlamp alignment enables the customer to position the LEDs accurately to optimise the light distribution. This is not possible manually. The current LED emission area is used for the positioning.
