Laser mirror adjustment

Special assembly of printed circuit boards and positioning of APD mirrors to the APD (Avalanche Photo Diode).

  • Task: Development of a system that positions and fixes the APD mirrors correctly to the APD (Avalanche Photo Diode).
  • Solution: The positioning is carried out in three axes. The camera records the image of the diode and the software uses it to determine the correct coordinates, whereupon the mirror is positioned within the specified tolerance range. Three holes are provided in the PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls) for mounting the APD mirror. The adhesive is applied from the back of the mirror onto the pins of the APD mirror, which are then inserted into the holes of the PCB. The adhesive is cured with a UV light source.
  • Result: Laser mirror adjustment allows optical features to be recognised automatically, based on which components are placed in the printed circuit board, LED or laser. 2D and 3D assembly is also possible.
